Lori LeMare, a historical paintwork restoration artist in Hamilton, Ont., got a curious phone call this summer. It was about a job to restore the murals and painted ceiling, stained by a century’s worth of incense smoke and deteriorating in parts, at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Windsor, Ont.

Restoration Project 2022
The former House of Parliament for Newfoundland is being repurposed into a provincial museum. A group of artisans from Hamilton is part of that effort, restoring interior decorative art including murals on the ceilings of the building that was constructed in 1850.
